LEP Transparency Overview
In their drive to increase local economic growth and private sector investment, the 38 Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) in England are acutely aware of their public reponsibility in exercising how they spend government funds. To underpin this, the government ensures each LEP adheres to the National Assurance Framework – this makes sure LEPs have in place robust systems and processes to effectively manage funding from central Government budgets. That framework stipulates specific rules for LEPs in four key areas:
The responsibility for ensuring LEPs strictly adhere to this framework lies with the ‘Section 151 Officer’ in the partner local authority who are the accountable body for the LEP. It is their responsibility to sign off and certify each LEPs assurance framework each year, ensure it is being implemented, and that it meets the standards of the LEP National Assurance Framework as indicated above.

The LEP Network
The LEP Network is a gateway to news and information that enables Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) to come together on areas of shared importance, engage with Government and stakeholders, and promote best practice to all.
The LEP Network Management Board provides a platform for discussion between a representative group of LEP Chairs and Government. The LEP Chairs come from all parts of the LEP landscape, including large City LEPs, small economy LEPs, rural LEPs, coastal LEPs and London. They are nominated by the 38 LEPs to help direct and oversee the LEP Network on behalf of the 38 LEP Chairs.
