GFirst LEP lands low carbon aero investment to help boost net zero

A new short film has been created to show how and why the company, ZeroAvia, chose Gloucestershire as their new home, please click here to view.

ZeroAvia’s plan is to take existing aircraft and refit them with a hydrogen powered engine. Their goal is to change the face of air travel and they have received endorsement and substantial innovation funding from the government and other significant investors.

GFirst LEP’s Inward Investment team (Invest in Gloucestershire) helped secure ZeroAvia’s relocation, which has to date created over 40 new jobs and is testament to the advanced manufacturing and engineering industry in Gloucestershire. One of the major drivers for relocating to Cotswold Airport was the strength in local talent in the aerospace and engineering sector, along with a beautiful location and strong aviation infrastructure.

The Inward Investment team are proud to support such an innovative and carbon friendly company which will see further jobs created, creation of a new supply chain and significant interest from senior government members.

Sergey Kiselev, VP Europe, ZeroAvia comments that; “We were very impressed with what Cotswold Airport, local talent and support can offer the company as a base for the delivery of the project. It’s a beautiful part of the country and we’re looking forward to seeing more of it from the air as we take zero emission aviation towards commercial adoption with this project.”

David Owen, CEO at GFirst LEP added; “We are very happy to support ZeroAvia’s investment into the county. ZeroAvia’s investment is a testament to Gloucestershire’s strong expertise and track record in the aerospace sector. We look forward to supporting ZeroAvia in creating highly skilled engineering jobs while spearheading innovation in clean growth and future air travel technology.”

Rob Weaver, Chief Executive at Cotswold District Council “We are delighted that ZeroAvia has chosen to base its operations in the Cotswolds.  Attracting a business at the cutting edge of environmental technology is exciting for the District and exactly what our recently-adopted Green Economic Growth Strategy seeks to achieve.  We look forward to continuing to support ZeroAvia as their technology develops and their business grows.”
