LEP support boosts winning bids in Community Renewal Fund projects

Following the announcement of successful bids to the UK Community Renewal Fund, LEP Network Chair, Mark Bretton, issued the following statement.

LEP support boosts winning bids in Community Renewal Fund projects

“I’m very pleased to see that so many UK Community Renewal Fund projects were successful and will soon start to make a difference in our local areas.  LEPs have been pleased to work with our Local Authority colleagues in many areas to bring our expertise to help councils submit compelling and successful bids.

“These winning bids are testament to the unique partnership LEPs have forged over many years with their local councils, which has enabled them to utilise the LEPs business acumen and strategic knowledge to underpin those bids. Hard pressed local councils drew on these valued local partnerships to access that local expertise, including project appraisal, contracting and delivery phases, to increase the chances of success.

"LEPs also demonstrated this expertise in their successful bids for £900m worth of Getting Building Fund projects now currently underway across the country.

"Clearly, there’s a future value here which we do not want to let fall away and, as we await the conclusions of the LEP Review and further details on the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, it’s clear that business led LEPs are a key anchor in the successful delivery of multi-million pound projects and stand ready to play their part in getting them delivered”
